Infidelity and Affair Counselling

Confidential counselling for couples navigating infidelity. Process what happened and decide, together or individually, what comes next.

Infidelity and Affair Counselling

Discovering or dealing with infidelity is one of the most difficult experiences a relationship can go through. Counselling gives you a structured space to process what happened, understand it, and decide what comes next, whether that’s rebuilding the relationship or navigating its end.

What Counts as Infidelity

Infidelity doesn’t always look the same, and it doesn’t need to fit a specific definition to be worth addressing in session. It might be a physical affair, an emotional connection that crossed a line, a pattern of secrecy, or something that happened once and hasn’t happened since. What matters isn’t labelling it correctly. What matters is that it’s affecting you, and that’s reason enough to talk about it.

Deciding This While Everyone Else Has an Opinion

In many Indian families, infidelity doesn’t stay between two partners for long. Parents, in laws, and sometimes the wider family weigh in quickly, often pushing toward a decision before either partner has had time to actually process what happened. Some couples feel pressure to stay together for the family’s sake or for children, others feel pushed toward separation before they’re ready to decide. Counselling gives you a space to think this through on your own terms, away from outside pressure, even if that pressure doesn’t go away once you leave the room.

How Sessions Work

Sessions may be conducted individually, as a couple, or both, depending on where you are in the process. Early sessions often focus simply on processing the shock and the emotions that follow, before any decisions get made. From there, work may move toward understanding what happened and why, rebuilding trust if that’s the direction you choose, or working through separation if that’s where things are headed instead. There’s no fixed script for recovering from infidelity, and no expectation that you’ll know what you want right away. The focus is on helping you process what happened clearly enough to make decisions you won’t regret, rather than reacting from pain alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have to decide whether to stay together before starting counselling?

No. Many couples start counselling specifically to figure that out, not because they’ve already decided.

Yes. Individual sessions can help you process what happened and decide your next steps, with or without your partner’s participation.

No. That decision is yours. The role of therapy is to help you understand the situation clearly enough to make that decision for yourself.

Yes. If it’s affecting your trust or your relationship, it’s worth addressing, regardless of what did or didn’t happen physically.

This is common, and it’s addressed directly in session. Counselling gives you a space to think clearly, separate from outside pressure, even while that pressure continues elsewhere.

There’s no fixed timeline. Some couples have clarity within a few sessions, others need longer. This is discussed honestly as you go, not promised upfront.
